University Oriental College, University of Punjab is offering admissions in a language diploma for the year of 2014. Those who are seeking to get admission in University Oriental College are invited to get admission in 13 languages diploma program. As University Oriental College was established in the year of 1870. At that time in addition to oriental learning , western knowledge was also imparted to the students. The languages then taught were Classical Language, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Punjabi and Pashto at all. And there were also so many other field taught such as engineering, medicine, mathematics, history, geography, Dharam Saster, Tibb Unani, Muhammadan Law, Vedak, economics, Philosophy, logic and photography etc. From academic session 1988- 1989 MA Arabic and M.A Sanskrit and form the academic session 1921 to 1922 Ma Persian classes got started. Urdu, Punjab and Hindi Departments were established in the year of 1928. At the independence time of Pakistan, departments of Punjabi, Hindi and Sanskrit were closed and M.A Classed in Urdu got started. So this university played a great role in developing the languages in the country and specially in Punjab , still doing the same thing.
