According to Dunya News Channel Government of Punjab has announced to basant festival at Changa Manga Forest and jalo park Lahore from February 21 till 5th of March. Notification has been issued. Punjab Government assigned this task to DCO Kasur and DCO Lahore for festival arrangement. Yes this is big news for Punjab people but in past when Punjab government announced they will celebrate This festival then lot of criticism they face by the public that was the reason Chief Justice of Pakistan banned on this festival in past. but in this time Government of Pakistan not face any criticism that is the main reason Punjab government not allow this festival in all over the Punjab or specially Lahore they give only two place that is the good decision by the Punjab Government.

Due to some incident Basant was banned by the Government or after Pakistan Supreme Court. In 2007 that was the last year when basant was celebrate by officially. But that year lot of people, Children die due to this festival . According to Pakistan Rescue 1122 when basant celebrate in ruler and also urban areas than lot of people injured and die that the reason this traditionally festival banned.
The biggest, or perhaps the best known, festival is that of Basant or Jashn-e-Baharaan held in February each year. Basant is a Punjabi festival celebrating the onset of the spring season. This festival is celebrated with kite flying competitions all over the city especially in the Androon-E-Shear. The sky is literally filled with colorful kites of all shapes and sizes flown from rooftops. The kites are flown on strings called “Dorr” which is a special thread with cut glass embedded within which serves to cut the thread of competitor kites more effectively. Some of the kite-flying competitions get extremely competitive and serious. Women, on this day are seen wearing a bright yellow dress up to the hilt. This festival gained more and more importance over the years and used to attract people from all over the world.But since 2007, it has been banned.
