M.Ed in Special Education:
This department came into being in 1985. The purpose of this department is to improve education and to train teachers for special needs children studying either in special schools or in mainstream schools.
The objective of this program:
- To meet the country’s increasing demand for trained teachers and specialized personnel by acquiring them with the latest techniques and methodologies to deal with special needs.
- To provide referral and supportive services to the handicapped and their parents by creating awareness in the public.
- To keep liaison with agencies and organizations working for the amelioration of the handicapped.
Admission Requirement:
- Admission Requirement: BA or B.Sc and B.Ed with at least 2nd Division (At least 2nd Division in both BA/B.Sc and B.Ed).
- The applicant must have a B.Ed. Admission will be granted only on merit.
- The candidates are advised not to deposit any fee without information from the admission department of the university.
- Admission forms, complete in all aspects along with attested copies of academic documents and professional experience certificates be sent to the Chairman Department of Special Education, Block-10, Allama Iqbal Open University, H-8, Islamabad.
- The selection process is on merit and the Duration of this course is Three Semesters all courses are available in English.
- So the student must remember that this course is based on 36 credit Hours with a Teaching practice of 10 weeks and Final Lessons and no thesis is involved in this course.
M.Ed ( Science Education):
The emerging need for better-qualified and trained science educators and teachers has long been emphasized in Educational plans and Policies. The M.Ed Science education program was developed in response to the need for highly professional science teachers and educators capable of bringing change and improvement in school science education. The program is aimed at providing education and training to in-service and pre-service science teachers, administrators, and all those graduates who are interested/involved in science education.
Admission requirement:
B.Sc with English having secured at least 2nd division along with B.Ed (with science specialization) or / B.S.Ed also with at least 2nd division.
Admission Process:
An eligible candidate is required to attach attested photocopies of his/her certificates/ degree and mark sheets with the admission form along with the required fee. The admission form may be submitted as per the prescribed procedure laid down in the prospectus. Specialization must be mentioned in the admission form.
course duration is 18 Months with English Medium used. total 36 Credit hours and at the end of each semester course workshops are held The thesis is optional in the third semester and viva is compulsory for those who opt for the thesis.
M.Ed Distance and Non-Formal Education (DNFE):
The emerging needs and the shortage of human development resources mixed with higher qualities of leadership in the field of education at the national level demand personnel, who have a sound professional and academic background in the relevant field. The M.Ed programme provides such academic opportunities to teachers which are aimed at providing education and training facilities in the country. The program also provides training to persons such as working tutors, administrators, extension workers, and interested education graduates.
Admission Requirement:
B.Sc/B.A with English at least 2nd division along with B.Ed (General) at least 2nd division OR B.S.Ed at least 2nd division.
Admission Process:
An eligible candidate is required to attach attested photocopies of his/ her certificates/ degrees and mark sheets with the admission form along with the required fee. The admission form may be submitted as per the prescribed procedure as laid down in the prospectus. Specialization must be mentioned in the admission form.
this course is based on 18 months with English and Udru Medium and has 36 credit hours at the end of each semester workshop will be conducted for the student and the Thesis is optional and viva in case the student opts for the thesis.
