یومِ مئی، دنیا بھر میں مزدوروں کی عید کے طور پر منایا جاتا ہے۔ اس دن دنیا بھر کے مزدور شکاگو کے شہیدوں کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کرتے ہیں۔ یہ یوم مئی ان شہداء کی قربانی کا نتیجہ ہے، جو 1886ء میں اپنے بنیادی حقوق کے لیے جدوجہد کرتے ہوئے شہید ہوئے۔
