LPG Price in Pakistan Today: Rs 294/kg, 11.8 kg Cylinder Rs 3,470 (Nov 2026)

The LPG price in Pakistan today is Rs 294.08 per kg, and a standard 11.8 kg domestic cylinder costs Rs 3,470.09, as notified by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for November 2026. The new price took effect on 1 November 2026, an increase of about Rs 14.73 per kg (Rs 173.86 per cylinder) over October. However, news reports say LPG is being sold in the open market at much higher rates because of a supply shortage. Here are the official rates for every cylinder size, last month’s comparison, and how to avoid overcharging.

OGRA notifies the per-kg and 11.8 kg prices; the 45.4 kg figure is calculated from the per-kg rate and may differ slightly from the official sheet.

October 2026279.343,296.21
November 2026294.083,470.09
Change+14.73+173.86

OGRA said the increase was mainly due to a 6.47% rise in the Saudi Aramco contract price (CP), while the average dollar rate fell slightly.

Open Market LPG Price

Although OGRA’s maximum price is Rs 294 per kg, Dawn reported that LPG was selling for up to Rs 630 per kg in the open market, while company-operated franchises were charging up to Rs 400 per kg. Other reports put market rates at Rs 520–600 per kg. The LPG distributors’ association has also warned of a strike from 16 November over the new LPG policy, which could affect supply. Prices at shops can therefore be far above the official rate during shortages.

LPG Price by Cylinder Size (Calculated)

Many shops sell refills by weight. Using OGRA’s November rate of Rs 294.08 per kg, the maximum price for common fills works out as follows:

These are calculated figures (per-kg rate × weight), rounded to the nearest rupee.

Who Uses LPG in Pakistan?

LPG is mainly used in areas without piped gas, especially in villages, hilly regions and new housing societies. It is also used by restaurants, small hotels and as a backup when piped gas pressure is low in winter. Some vehicles also run on auto-LPG at licensed stations.

How OGRA Sets the LPG Price

  • OGRA announces a new price at the start of every month.
  • The price is based on the Saudi Aramco contract price (international LPG benchmark) and the rupee-dollar exchange rate.
  • Taxes, margins and freight are included in the notified consumer price.

How to Avoid LPG Overcharging

  1. Ask for the price per kg and compare it with OGRA’s rate.
  2. Check the weight: an 11.8 kg cylinder that is under-filled costs you more per kg. Ask the seller to weigh it.
  3. Buy from authorised distributors of licensed marketing companies.
  4. Check the cylinder’s seal, valve and test date; never accept a leaking or rusted cylinder.
  5. Report overcharging to OGRA or the local district administration price control team.

LPG Safety Tips

  • Keep the cylinder upright, in a ventilated place, away from heat.
  • Use a good-quality regulator and pipe; replace cracked pipes.
  • Check for leaks with soapy water, never with a flame.
  • If you smell gas, close the valve, open doors and windows and do not switch electrical appliances on or off.
  • Never use LPG heaters in closed bedrooms while sleeping.

LPG vs Natural Gas vs Electricity for Cooking

With piped gas available only in three daily slots this winter (see the gas load shedding schedule), many homes use LPG as a backup. Piped natural gas is usually the cheapest when available. LPG at the official rate is convenient but becomes expensive at open-market prices. An induction cooker can be an alternative if your electricity unit price slab is low.
